No. 0005 La Palette des Amants (21.76"x21.75") - AVAILABLE ONLY AT LIZ LIDGETT GALLERY

In the 17th and 18th centuries, lovers took their flirtations very seriously indeed. They elevated seduction into the art of the love affair, with surreptitious looks, love notes, tokens of affection, festive balls, clandestine meetings, and so on; but of course, like all relationships, theirs were also subject to jealousy, misunderstandings, and that particular shade of dark despair that threatens the deepest passions.

"La Palette des Amants" or "The Palette of the Lovers" is an ode to Rococo gallantry, but of course love is timeless, and one could very well transpose "menuets" (minuets) into your favorite danse song and "billets doux" (those little notes penned on foolscap and slipped into passing pockets) into inbox messages.
